P'an-Ku

P'an-Ku represents the Creation myth of China, the originator of the Yin and Yang concept.
According to the myth, in the beginning there was only a formless chaos. Out of this primordial nothing a cosmic egg was formed. Within this egg the opposed principles of the Yin and the Yang shaped themselves. Once this egg hatched, P'an-Ku emerged into the universe. This is a basic overview of the myth, as I have interpreted it in my own way, although the concept of the Yin and the Yang remains: opposites. What was once life, richness, vitality, is eventually corrupted by death, rot, degeneration, disintegration...the cyclical nature of life and death, and the terrible beauty of both.
