Sacre Beer label Part IV process...

I did say that some day I would like to contribute another Sacre Beer label artwork. I'm happy to declare that that day has arrived. The title of this latest edition is Defeating Synths, and like the last one (Leopard) the idea arrived quickly. I decided to play on the sometimes uneasy relationship we have with technology, with the mechanisation of our world. Some day I'd like to produce one of these labels using oil. Watch this space...

The Old Man in the House of Bone...process

The Old Man in the House of Bone, written by David Calcutt and published by V-Press, has finally arrived. As always, after some scheming, deliberation, collaboration, and hard work, I have the satisfaction of actually holding a copy in my hands. It was an immensely enjoyable project to be involved in, and of course a challenging one. I value the artistic process. I find the progression of an artists vision fascinating, to see it take shape, and eventually form into a finished piece, is never tiring. Often the process can be just as compelling as the final image(s). Here is the journey of my creative process for the book...

Ancient Memories

This is an illustration based on the theme of "circles" for the latest issue of HCE magazine. My angle is kind of a Platonic one. When we are born we are severed from the shared knowledge of the universe, being made up of the same properties. We are therefore constantly in flux, in a state of perpetual 'becoming'. Our myths are an attempt to try to understand this information, an attempt to reconnect with it somehow...

Chimera

This is my contribution to a magazine called "Fatzine", which runs predominantly in Manchester every month. The theme for the latest issue is politics. Unfortunately I could not dedicate more time to the image (particularly the rendering), as I had less than a day to get it done and sent off. However, I do think the concept works, and the magazine, at the moment, is only in colour online. Still though, I would have liked to have worked into it more, particularly the background. Next time.

Reverie

This started out as a quick sketch that I did in Hyde Park in Sydney. Its alot more graphic-like than I would normally go for but people seem to like it which does surprise me.
